(WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 11, 2025) The Trump administration is proposing to end most climate research conducted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in a move to further deepen cuts to NOAA. This proposal would diminish the budget of NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) from $485 million to $171 million and eliminate the jobs of hundreds of climate experts.

“Millions of Americans rely on NOAA’s science every day for weather alerts, forecasting and much more. Cutting climate research makes people everywhere more vulnerable to extreme weather and compromises our safety and ability to thrive. We need climate scientists and experts now more than ever to ensure our families, businesses and nation are ready to face the challenges ahead.”
