(WASHINGTON – Dec 19, 2025) Today, the Biden administration announced a new emissions target under the Paris Agreement, called a Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 61-66% below 2005 levels by 2035.

“The United States has set a realistic and achievable target for reducing climate pollution over the next decade. While the U.S. faces significant new challenges, it must stay focused on making progress toward a stronger, brighter future with more affordable and reliable clean energy and less harmful pollution. Federal and state policies that have sparked a clean energy boom across the nation, and the benefits in jobs and economic competitiveness are too great for the U.S. to back away.”
