Nathaniel Keohane rejoins EDF as Vice President
(New York — September 14, 2012) Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) announced today that Nathaniel Keohane has rejoined the organization as a Vice President, having recently left a position in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Energy and Environment in the National Economic Council and Domestic Policy Council. In his new role at EDF, Dr. Keohane will be working across all of the organization’s programs, including helping to lead a new strategic effort on global climate change.
“We are delighted to have Nat returning to the fold,” said EDF President Fred Krupp. “Nat brings a wealth of expertise, a strong reputation as an economist, and experience in policymaking at the highest levels of government – as well as a passion for finding smart, economically sound solutions to environmental problems.”
In his White House role, Keohane helped to coordinate and develop the Administration’s policies on energy, climate, and environmental regulation. Prior to joining the Administration in January 2011, Keohane was Director of Economic Policy and Analysis and then Chief Economist at EDF. From 2001 to 2007, he was an Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor of Economics at the Yale School of Management. An environmental economist, Dr. Keohane has co-authored or co-edited two books on environmental economics and policy, and his research has been published in a number of leading academic journals. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and a B.A. from Yale.
