As e-commerce soars, are companies like Amazon, Walmart and eBay being transparent about the products they sell?

4 years 2 months ago
Even before the pandemic, millions of consumer products were channeled through online platforms every day. Now, online shopping is at an all-time high, with total e-commerce spending in the U.S. hitting $82.5 billion, up 78% year-over-year. For context, it typically would have taken four to six years to see the current level of growth we […]

Greasing the skids: The Trump EPA is green-lighting dozens of new PFAS under TSCA

4 years 2 months ago
Richard Denison, Ph.D., is a Lead Senior Scientist. Under an obscure and opaque – and increasingly used – exemption that EPA provides under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), EPA has been quietly approving companies’ requests to introduce new poly- and per-fluorinated substances (PFAS) onto the market.  And it seems to be ramping up. PFAS is […]

EPA Used Critically Flawed, Illegal Process to Select Potential Members for its Chemical Safety Advisory Panel

4 years 2 months ago
Today EPA released a list of potential candidates for a key chemical safety advisory committee that is critically flawed from the outset: Candidates were solicited and screened under an illegal directive issued by scandal-plagued former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt that barred any scientist receiving EPA grant funding from serving on the agency’s dozens of advisory bodies.
