Description
Abdul Halim leads a team of professionals committed to halting marine biodiversity degradation and improving the management of small-scale fisheries in Indonesia. Halim has more than 20 years of experience in fisheries management, MPA policy development in Indonesia and the Coral Triangle region. He is called upon as a resource person in local and national level fisheries policy dialogues including recently on revisions to the Indonesian fisheries law and blue food security.
Background
Prior to joining EDF, Abdul Halim was an independent consultant with clients ranging from multilateral institutions, international companies and international and national Non-government Organizations (NGOs). Previously, he also chaired the marine program of an international NGO in Indonesia.
Abdul Halim received his doctorate degree in Small-Scale Fisheries Management from IPB University and Murdoch University, Australia, a Master's degree from the University of Rhode Island, USA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries from IPB University, Bogor, Indonesia.
