(Washington, D.C. – June 10, 2015) Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) today praised the leadership of two Senators who introduced a new bill to address the threat of climate change.

Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Brian Schatz (D-HI) unveiled the American Opportunity Carbon Fee Act today. The measure is designed to reduce the pollution that causes climate change.

“We’re already seeing the adverse effects of climate change across America, and we know it’s a threat to the health and safety of future generations. We need Congress to act, and we appreciate Senators Schatz and Whitehouse for their leadership today,”said Elizabeth Thompson, EDF Vice President of Climate and Political Affairs.
