Portman Amendment Would Increase Health Risk for Americans -- EDF
Statement on Sen. Rob Portman’s Proposed Amendment to the Budget – March 26, 2015
“Senator Portman’s amendment would undercut the section of the Clean Air Act that allows us to reduce pollution from sources like sewage sludge incinerators, medical waste incinerators, power plants and solid waste landfills. This amendment would expose Americans to more toxic substances like mercury, lead, and particulate matter, and would increase carbon pollution.”
– Jeremy Symons, EDF Senior Director for Climate Policy
