Senior Specialist, Talent Development

Overall Function

The Senior Specialist, Talent Development is responsible for designing, implementing, and measuring learning and professional development solutions that support EDF Talent Development goals. Someone in this role has a strong interest in developing people and fostering the space for more impactful knowledge sharing. The Senior Specialist, Talent Development would take on projects like creation and administration of leadership development programs, facilitation of training sessions for employees at various levels, and regularly collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Talent Development.

This position is a 2-year fixed term role, with a hybrid work schedule, 2-3 days a week in an EDF office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops and facilitates engaging and effective learning sessions and programs that cater to diverse learning styles and levels within the organization, using varied delivery methods including instructor-led training, e-learning, blended programs, and webinars.
  • Operates as a project lead, consistently driving project forward, managing the timeline and budget.
  • Manages projects independently, recommending approaches to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Can function as team lead, taking on a more strategic role, on multifaceted projects.
  • Collaborates with HRBPs to ensure alignment of TD strategies with local and global needs and standards.
  • Utilizes data-driven insights to continuously enhance Talent Development programs: Establish metrics and measurement processes to assess the impact and success of training courses and TD programs, develop scorecards to evaluate outcomes and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement and/or success.
  • Implements communication strategies for TD learning and development initiatives.
  • Makes informed decisions on routine activities; communicates essential information and recommendations to supervisor and teams for decisions outside their scope.
  • Supports Career Development, Performance Management and Change Management processes and programs as needed.
  • Participates in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
  • Manages the deployment of mandatory training programs. 
  • Manages vendor relationships in coordination with associated programs.
  • Undertakes other projects and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in supporting organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, Organizational Development, or related field. 
  • 4+ years in learning & development, organizational development, and/or talent management.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems and other L&D software - Workday Learning strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading or managing end-to-end leadership development, professional development or career development programs.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills to all levels of staff required; effective virtual facilitation strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively across a growing, dynamic organization and among geographically dispersed colleagues.
  • Experience managing vendors.
  • Strong customer service orientation skills, excellent judgement and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality while representing the organization and interfacing with all levels of staff and vendors.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to continued self-assessment, learning and growth to increase and broaden culturally competent skillsets that produce effective interactions with people across diverse cultures and backgrounds. This includes the ability to adapt to cultural change.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Interest in EDF’s mission and environmental advocacy a plus.
