EDF's Carbon Pricing initiative executes EDF's work on carbon pricing. The Carbon Pricing team coordinates and aligns EDF's approach for engagement and advocacy in global carbon markets. Team members undertake original research and publish in peer-reviewed journals; participate in and regularly give presentations to international negotiators, represent EDF and broader NGO coalitions; and develop and present materials in a wide range of settings, including multilateral meetings with governments and civil society organizations, corporations, and other stakeholders around the world.OVERALL FUNCTION
EDF’s Carbon Pricing team seeks a collaborative, organized, and self-motivated Project Manager to play a critical support role in leading the development, execution, and internal coordination of projects and strategic planning initiatives for the Carbon Pricing workstream. The Project Manager will develop recommendations and action steps based on the analysis of topical content and by gathering requirements from internal and external stakeholders. This role leads project management tasks (with input from the AVP, Carbon Markets & Private Sector Decarbonization) including timeline and workplan development, meetings management including scheduling and agenda management, and tracking and reporting progress against goals and targets. The Project Manager reports to the Manager of Carbon Pricing and works closely with Operations and Carbon Pricing stakeholders across EDF.This position will play a key role in supporting strategic planning and managing the portfolio of projects under EDF’s Carbon Pricing workstream. This position will work closely with colleagues across the globe.
This is a 2-year fixed term position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support project management and strategic planning for the Carbon Pricing workstream; develop and ensure execution of associated work plans, timelines, and cross-functional tasks; coordinate work with key stakeholders, including other Mission Areas, Mission Finance, Marketing and Communications, Development, HR, and external partners.
- Utilize project management tools (e.g., Asana or Excel) to build and progress project plans, including key dates, milestones, action items, and point people.
- Track progress against Carbon Pricing project and strategy goals and objectives; communicate updates to Carbon Pricing leadership and stakeholders.
- Prepare documents (presentation slides, memos, etc.) to organize content related to Carbon Pricing work areas to support meetings and discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Schedule meetings, develop agenda items, and track action items for key meetings supporting project and strategic planning objectives.
- Collaborate with the other EDF teams to align Carbon Pricing strategy, planning, and resourcing with organizational tools, processes, and timelines, including fiscal year budget building.
- Support the Carbon Pricing workstream strategic conveyer in preparing updates to EDF Leadership on strategy development and status; liaise with EDF-wide stakeholders to compile updates.
- Develop a calendar of year-round Carbon Pricing events and forums and gather input from Carbon Pricing leadership and EDF-wide stakeholders to coordinate EDF’s engagement plan.
- Develop and implement practical communication approaches for the Carbon Pricing strategy team and foster critical relationships with other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Carbon Pricing Operations team to track and align project budget needs and ensure the processing of contracts and invoices.
- Support content development for fundraising proposals and reports related to Carbon Pricing projects.
- Ensure clear and systematic document management for project materials, including Development proposals and reports.
- Assist in the recruitment and mentoring of junior EDF staff and interns.
- Participates in advancing EDF Diversity Equity and Inclusion goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
- Additional relevant responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field with at least 4 years of relevant experience. A Master’s degree or equivalent may substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in project management, including building end-to-end project plans.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- An ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, independently, and in collaboration with a team and organization-wide stakeholders.
- Ability to juggle many tasks and deadlines and quickly respond to changing opportunities.
- Ability to translate strategy documents, meeting notes, and other content into memos, presentations, and reports.
- Familiarity with project management software and demonstrated ability to develop fluency in new tools and support team adoption.
- Demonstrated ability to work professionally and collegially with executive staff and internal and external stakeholders across varying departments and areas of expertise; capability to drive work and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency, inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience.
- Demonstrated interest in climate and environmental issues; knowledge of carbon pricing and markets is a plus.
