Graphic Design Intern
Program/Department Overview
EDF’s Creative Team is part of Marketing and Communications, or Marcomm. We are a fun, diverse, inclusive team of creative story tellers who strive to get EDF’s policy, science, and legal work out to the masses in a visual and digestible way that captures all audiences
Overall Function
The intern will be supporting the design team in day-to-day requests. They will conduct research, make moodboards, create concepts, and support the overall team. They will also help in maintaining brand consistency by working directly with the team daily. The Intern will report to the Senior Designer/Art Director.
Key Responsibilities
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Create, edit, and update visual content- print or digital. This may include working on brochures, flyers, reports, presentations, infographics, illustrations, moodboards, banner ads, web pages, newsletters, posters, and any other visual communication.
- Conduct research and learn more about current design and marketing trends and applying them to the work.
- Support in administrative tasks including archiving work to the EDF library.
- Participate in advancing EDF Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in/be a recent graduate of an undergraduate program in Graphic Design, or related field.
- Demonstrate interest in graphic design, visual concepting, advertising, UI.UX design, illustration, social media.
- Basic graphic design skills needed; strong illustration skills preferred.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative suite, especially Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Any experience with AfterEffects, PowerPoint and Canva would be a bonus. Adaptable to project manager program Wrike a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be well organized, motivated, and detail oriented.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team setting and work independently when projects are due.
- Demonstrate self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
Location
U.S. Remote with option to be hybrid out of an EDF office in New York City. Intern supervisor is in New York City and many team members are in New York City.
Term
Summer 2025 (10 weeks)
Hours
Part-time (20 hr/week) or Full-time (35 hr/week)
Compensation
This internship would involve compensation for work paid at a rate competitive with leading non-profits at $18/hr.
